Overview

Piccolo Abruzzo, tucked away on Via Sicilia in the heart of Rome, is an authentic Italian gem that captures the essence of Abruzzese cuisine with warmth and precision. This charming trattoria offers a cozy, intimate atmosphere that invites guests to experience traditional flavors far from the bustling tourist crowds.

The menu is a carefully curated celebration of Italian culinary heritage, with standout dishes such as tender Arrosticini—skewers of succulent lamb—alongside rich, comforting plates like Spaghetti Egg Bacon and Cheese and delicate Ravioli al Formaggio. Each dish tells a story, often rooted in the Abruzzo region, with robust flavors that speak of slow-cooked traditions and fresh, local ingredients.

Beyond pasta and lamb, Piccolo Abruzzo elevates lesser-known delights such as Carciofi Alla Giudia, crispy fried artichokes that balance texture and flavor beautifully. The experience culminates with their exquisitely crafted Tiramisù, a dessert that has drawn praise for both presentation and taste, offering a perfect finish to any meal.

Dining here feels like a moment suspended in time. The attentive service, highlighted by genuine gestures—such as a server thoughtfully draping a bib to protect a guest's white blouse—enhances the comforting, homely vibe of the space. It’s a place where the staff’s kindness matches the quality of the food, making each visit memorable.

Piccolo Abruzzo appeals especially to lovers of traditional Italian fare seeking an authentic and unpretentious experience. Whether you’re indulging in hearty meat selections paired with a robust red wine or savoring pasta crafted with care, this restaurant strikes a fine balance between rustic charm and culinary finesse. It is a destination for those visiting Rome who desire honest, flavorful meals delivered with impeccable hospitality.

To sum up, Piccolo Abruzzo excels not just in its menu but in crafting a genuine Italian dining experience, firmly rooted in location and tradition. It’s a small space with a big heart—a rare find that invites you to return, as many already have, for more than just a meal, but a slice of authentic Rome.

Excellent recommendation by the concierge at our hotel. The food and service were top notch, and I loved the attention to detail from appetizers to dessert: excellent presentation and great flavors. I love how our server, when seeing my white blouse, draped a bib over me to prevent splashing sauce on the front of me.

When in Rome . . . you must go to Piccolo Abruzzo for dinner! Tiny and quaint, this local trattoria serves up delicious meals with impeccable service. Ricky is a gem of a waiter, warm and welcoming. As someone who never goes anywhere twice, I dined here on two consecutive nights. That says it all.

The arrosticini and chips were perfect, the little bits of fat were melt in your mouth! The wine was worth the price and the service was great! Ask for Ricky he was super attentive and has great recommendations!! I only have 5 days here in Rome, but I'll be back!

The service was immaculate and our server was very attentive, considerate and knowledgeable about all of the dishes we ordered. Several of the patrons ordered the pasta with bacon & cheese hence only 3 photos. I gave a 4 for food only bc portion size was small. Lord knows the food was delicious and i am a greedy girl. Highly recommend for authentic trattoria dishes. Ricky our server gave us a homestyle family dining experience bar none. Gratzie!
